I'm completely computer illiterate, and I have absolutely no clue what any of this means.

This morning my windows (xp) crashed, so when I got back on I ran a virusscan online and found all of this crap.

I plan on buying some McAfee software next week, will that help me get rid of my problems?

What can I do for now?
Are any of these files important?

    Please help.
    Thanks

If you are running XP please turn off restore. When we are all done with your system you will want to go back and turn restore back on

Than lets run another online scan from here http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Also run hijackthis after the online scan and post the log back here. You can download from here http://www.subratam.org/?page=removal

Until you get a virus checker you can download this one from this site

    http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/

To answer your question all those files can be deleted and download the free virus check that I listed above

What does turning of System Restore do? Will it have any bad affects on my computer?

And also, I'm unfamiliar with hijackthis?

I plan on doing everything you say I just want to understand it first :)

    Thanks for the advice

yeah hijackthis shows running processes which shows if you got any bugs running. system restore is a way to reverse harmful changes made to your computer. therefore if you delete a virus it will back itself up on it.
