Hi

Please can anyone tell me how to get rid of the trojan mm21.ocx. My norton antivirus professional picked it up but cannot delete it.

I am running windows xp and the trojan information is:- The compressed file mm21.ocx within C:\Documents and Settings\Elaine\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\WZ5RUYRD\alien[1].cab is a Adware threat. I have looked in that file and cannot find it.

I have also run ad-aware and spybot but still no joy in removing it. Please can anyone tell me how to get rid of it.

Thanks

Elaine

Thank you for your advice. I have deleted the file and now Norton does not come up with it. However i thought it was the mm21.ocx causing me problems with my internet but my broadband is still slow and i keep getting a lot of 'the page cannot be displayed'. Do you have any suggestions. P.s i did reply to your message before but i must have done something wrong if you never received it, sorry i am still a novice :-(.

I would like to see a hijackthis log from your machine.

Create a permanent folder on your hard drive like c:\program files\hjt.
Download Hijackthis again and click "Save", direct it to the permanent folder you created. Double click on hijackthis.exe and select Do a system scan and save a logfile. This log will open in notepad. Copy and paste the log back here for review.
Don't make any changes until instructed to do so.

Run HJT again and put a check in the following:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DefyEncBikeSeek] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\FunkMagsDefyEnc\nurbdumb.exe
O16 - DPF: {88D758A3-D33B-45FD-91E3-67749B4057FA} (Sinstaller Class) - http://dm.screensavers.com/dm/insta.../sinstaller.cab

Close all applications and browser windows before you click "fix checked".

Go to Start, Run type %temp% press enter, empty the entire contents of that folder. **Except Temporary Internet Files, Cookies, and history folders.
Make sure to delete folders with the name ICD*.tmp where * represents a number.

Reboot.
