My computer just started doing this - I am working either on the web or on a project and the image will begin to double then triple so I have 5 - 7 copies of the program that I have open, then the screen starts to turn colors - mostly to dark purple then to black and the whole screen gets blacked out. I move my mouse and it's like in slow motion as it has to move on all the screens. I recently performed system restore when it happened and went back a few days to a day this did not happen. It is now starting to happen again and I do not want to loose any information by again restoring to an earlier time - what can I do and why is this happening? Is it a virus- spy ware- or what??? It is very frustrating as once it begins I am virtually stuck in my tracks. Oh, it also does it in safe mode. Someone with knowledge please, please, please help me I just purchased this computer in 11/04. The only other problem that I could imagine is that I let my teenagers on the net via a wireless modem connected to my computer - could this be a part of the problem?

Hi, Scan online at these two sites if you can.

Scan entire computer, have no CDs in...set AUTOCLEAN options where you see them. Takes awhile if you have never used these two scanners before...but it is worth trying. Do Panda first, save the Report when it finishes and post that in a reply please.

We could also use a Hijackthis log:

Would like to have you post a log from HijackThis, a program (very tiny) that we use to see what problems exist.

There are directions here to do it: There are .zip form and .exe form, take your pick.

    Download it here:

    Or here.

It's a direct download so be ready with the folder for it.

Basically, you create a new folder, the desktop is OK provided you make a folder, name it something like HJT, and download TO that folder, run hijackthis.exe from there. If there are users of the computer who might start HJT and use it, hide the program in a folder elsewhere!

First open a reply here in your thread to have it ready.
    Run Hijackthis.exe, and
Select the "Scan and save a log" button...

When it is done scanning> the Save box will become available, save the log as hijackthis.txt which will open with Notepad. Hit the EDIT> Select All then the EDIT>Copy button at the top of your log, Go back to TSG, and click once in the blank reply space, then go to the top of your browser window and select EDIT>Paste.
Please do NOT use HJT yourself to remove anything, most of what it shows is good and needed by the system.

After we see the hijackthis log, we can get you some good free programs to help remove things you do not want on there.
