Help im getting blue screened!

Hi,

I'm new to this but I figured I'd give this a try. This is a repost of my earlier post I did last week. no replies :( .

I have an Acer Aspire 5110 laptop and recently I've been getting the bluescreen when starting the laptop. Sometimes it pops up after I login, sometimes on the password screen. The bluescreen usually has HSFHWAZL.SYS (i think). After this, windows usually does a disk check. Sometimes it finds nothing, other times it truncates like 15-20 files.

Currently I'm running WindowsXP Media Center Edition.

I downloaded HijackThis and here's the log file.

Blue screen is Blue screen of Death if it occurs it means that there is some issue with the operating system or the hardware.
it may be the virus issue.
If the error occurs follow the on the screen instructions if it says to restart the computer in the safe mode, try that.

well, i get the blue screen, and that automatically restarts the comp. then, my comp starts up as normal but i get the disk consistency check. it checks both my drives, sometimes it says it finds a few files where 'the first allocation unit is not valid,' and then it truncates it, sometimes, there's nothing wrong. then it starts normally and after i login, windows says it has recovered from a serious error and asks me if i wanna submit the error log.

Your blue screen mentions HSFHWAZL.SYS ==that's a Conexant modem driver.

You might consider uninstalling the driver--
Click start, run, type devmgmt.msc and click ok.
Click the plus to expand modems, right click the listed modem and left click Uninstall.
Reboot.

I can't tell you if your hijackthis log is clear, and uninstalling the driver may simply fix a symptom of a deeper problem, but it may help pin something down.
