Help i'm going crazy

okay so i was downloading an update for my adobe when my laptop turned off and when i turned it back on adobe was gone and then i went to downlaod adobe 9 and while it was downloading it came up that i need a proxy so i tried to put something in it and since it didn't work so i paused the download and then after a while tried to acess the internet but it keeps on showing the internet explorer cannot display the webpage my sister can access the internet on her laptop but i can't though my bitorrent and my skype can connect to the internet
i already restarted my router but nothing changed
