I want to rank 1 to 4. total entries are 8. the values assigned to each name changes due to some other entry. they should always remain sorted out such that top 4 are in ranking 1 to 4.

Your best bet, I think is a PivotTable and a refresh on your data entry Worksheet.

Your data entry - base data should have

Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
    Sheets("PivTable").PivotTables("PivotTable").RefreshTable
    End Sub

    - in the Worksheet code.

And you create a PivotTable using Data>PivotTable and PivotChart Report...

Put your chart on a different Worksheet, and note that it'll update the PivotTable when ever you change any data on your data entry or base data Worksheet.

I've attached an amended sheet for you to look at.
See, comment on Sheet "PivTable" Cell "A2".

And, take a look at the VBA code for "Sheet1".

There maybe better ways around this, personally I would either do it this way, or just use a Macro with a button that I had to press to update the sort.
But the attached Excel gives you what you requested.

Ps. If you want to see your data and PivTable at the same time, goto.
    Window>New Window.
    Then
Window>Compare Side by Side with...>Help2.xls 1 the sheet with the same name.
