    Hi folks,
Wanted to know if y'all could take a look at my hijack this log. Somehow I got infected with this virus and can't quite seem to shake it. The virus has made my IE really really unstable. Any thoughts on kicking the virus would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!
    Anthony

    Before you do anything....do this....
Go to http://computercops.biz/downloads-cat-14.html , and download the latest version of CWShredder by Merijn Bellekom, the creator of Hijack This.
Run it, press 'Fix', and allow it to fix all it finds.
And remember to click "Fix" (Not "Scan only")
After its done its thing hit the"How do i prevent reinfection" tab....
In particular pay attention to the patches for the operating system regarding the ByteVerify vulnerability which is how you got infected in the 1st place.

When it is finished restart your computer and post another log.

    ;)

    Hi all,
I just spent 6 hours trying to get rid of the greatsearch.biz IE homepage hijack, and did some WinXP and IE upgrading (from the Microsoft site) and repairing along the way, but there is no way of getting rid of greatsearch. I followed all the steps recommended by Mike Healan on http://www.spywareinfo.com/articles/hijacked/prevent.php , all to no avail. Then returned to the Registry, found the entries relating to greatsearch, deleted them, but they just came back again and again. Running HiJackThis seems to be able to remove the references to greatsearch.biz at first, and the removal seems to stay with the browser for like 2 clicks on Home, before returning to its incredibly insistent home page slot. I can't believe I spent so much time messing around with so much crap on one computer, which was new 10 months ago.
Any new suggestions will be mosty welcome.
    cheers,
    Jan Freijser
