Hello everyone, I'm running a windows 7 operating system and I need help I've been having this issue for a few weeks. Usually when I download something big or stream my internet on my PC specifically will go out and I cannot get it back unless I restart my pc I have tried ipconfig/renew and I get the unable to contact DHCP.

Now saying that, I have tried other methods that don't work at all however my wifi works perfectly on my phone and other devices in the household and it is only my pc. I am connected via Ethernet as well but I also sometimes use a wireless adapter however have not experienced the internet go out using the adapter but for network adapter I have updated drivers, tried different ports as well as using different cables and none of those have helped I've looked up many solutions and none seem to work please help thanks

I should also mention the ethernet port on my pc is burnt out because of a thunder storm so I am using a USB to ethernet adapter

What firewall or security suite is, or ever was, on the system?

I'm not clear on some details: Do you have the problem with the USB ethernet adapter or does it work OK? And, do you have the problem with a wireless adapter or does it work OK?

If you are having the problem with ethernet are you using a known good cable, or the one that may have been damaged when the ethernet adapter got fried?

Regardless of the above, try ...

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Vista through 10.

Start - All Programs - Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt. [For Windows 8 thru 10: <Windows Logo> + x - Command Prompt(Admin)]

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine after all three commands; no need to boot after the 1st and 2nd.

Hi, sorry I wasn't clear on some things. I have problems with the USB ethernet adapter specifically when I stream or download big files. The wireless adapter works perfectly ok, however of course it will not always be up to par as a ethernet adapter. And it is a good known cable, it was working fine and I could stream up to a while ago, i'm not exactly sure when this started happening. Also when I tried reseting IPv6 it said "no user specified setting to be reset"
I should also state the USB ethernet adapter works okay when I play online video games or watch streams, or stream shows. Specifically when I want to stream my gameplay or if I want to download files and when my download speed exceeds about 2mbps, the problem persist where the internet would completely cut out on my pc specifically until a reboot has occurred.
