help limited connectivity!

I have an asus eeepc 1005ha running win 7 starter. Recently I was updating zone alarm and my system froze. After restarting I I can only get limited connectivity with no internet. I can connect no problems with my phone. I can't connect with a wired connection either, network diagnostic says "the wireless network adapter is experiencing problems" I'm at a loss as to what to do, I'd rather not have to format and start over.

I don't know if its relevant bit I can't get internet by tethering my phone either.

Wireless atheros ar9285
Wired atheros ar8132

it maybe a zonealarm issues - see below

try this also
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Safemode with networking
with a cable connected from PC to router
check the cable - see if there is a light on the router accosiated with the cable port used , also check if you have a green/yellow light on the PC LAN port
- try safemode with networking
as the PC starts keep tapping F8 - a menu appears - choose
safemode with networking - see if that works

Zonealarm Removal Tool
The latest versions have the uninstalled included in the installation
run the ZA uninstaller from Start > Programs > ZoneAlarm
