Hello

I have a very nice. Older. Dell. Desktop computer. It’s a dell. XPS. Running windows. X p. Pro. The system is very nice and I just got it restarted after 10 years. All boots ok and desktop comes up. However I cannot get online. It can’t see my 2wire home portal internet modem.
I went and bought a new. Net. Gear. Wireless. USB. Device. But when I go thru setup The computer tells me. It is searching for the wireless device and can’t find it. Even tho it’s attached to the computer
Is the driver set to new. Do I have to update my. OS. To windows 8.1. Or windows 10. How can I simply get my machine to connect to the internet without going thru a lot of trouble.
I used to connect thru phone modem. But Do I have to still do this or can I use. Ethernet. Or. USB. I want to use wireless.
Can anyone help me with this situation

What is the exact model number of your Dell XPS?
What is the exact 7-character "service tag/serial" number on it?

You didn't provide a description of your Netgear USB wireless adapter, so we don't know which model you have, nor do we know if it supports Windows XP Pro.
Did you install the driver software for it?

You said you haven't used your Dell XPS in 10 years.
Does its Windows XP Pro operating system have Service Pack 3 installed?
