Look at the sticker on the bottom of the case that has the product number(P/N).

Advise what that product number is so we can confirm the exact dv9000 model you have.

The HP support site lists 98 dv9000 models.

I'm hitting a deadend with the product number. Did you copy it correctly?

Do you see a service tag number on the sticker?

The HP support site is coming up empty for "dv9823em" .

It's showing these model numbers for "dv9823" :

HP Pavilion dv9823ca Entertainment Notebook PC

HP Pavilion dv9823cl Entertainment Notebook PC

HP Pavilion dv9823tx Entertainment Notebook PC

    -----------------------------------------------------

Go here and follow the instructions for using the HP product detection tool.

    -----------------------------------------------------

Edit post #5 and remove your product key before someone sees it and uses it illegally.

There's no need to send me a private message.
We need to deal with everything here in your thread.

And I don't sit in front of my computer 24/7.
If you don't get a reply from me for a number of hours, I'm off-line.

Whee! I finally found it. (y)

Here is the support and software site for the HP Pavilion dv9823em Entertainment Notebook PC

I suggest you add and save this site in your browser favorites/bookmarks list so you can readily refer to it when needed.

According to its product specifications section, it came with Windows Vista Home Premium(32-bit) pre-installed.

    It supposedly has these devices:

    NVIDIA nForce AR chipset

    NVIDIA GeForce 7150M graphics

Realtek or Conexant High Definition Audio

Atheros or Broadcom or Intel wireless

    ----------------------------------------------------------

Go to Control Panel - Device Manager.

Advise what's listed in these headings:

    Display Adapters

    Network Adapters

    Other Devices
    (if this heading exists)

    Sound Video And Game Controllers

and advise if any entries have a ? next to them.

According to what you have listed in the Device Manager, only the display adapter and the wireless adapter are being recognized and are working.
The wired adapter and the sound device are NOT being recognized nor are working. :(

Double-click the NVIDIA GeForce 7150M / nForce 630m entry to open its properties window, then click the "Driver" tab.
What's listed there for the driver date and driver version?

Go here and click one of the "Download @ MajorGeeks" links to download and save

Realtek High Definition Audio Driver 2.63(6.0.1.6410)

Just download and save it and don't do anything with it yet.

Go here and click the "sp40170.exe" link to download and save

Conexant High Definition Audio Driver 4.36.7.61

Just download and save it and don't do anything with it yet.
