Hi everyone,

I have some issue with rapidshare.com ...
This morning I opened up my computer and found that my IP cannot access rapidshare.com ...
When I use IE7 to access "http://rapidshare.com/" , the URL changes to "res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm#http://rapidshare.com/"
In Mozilla, the browser suddenly turns to white and cannot even see the error message.
So I surfed with Safari and the error says, " The error was: “unknown error” (CFURLErrorDomain:302) "
I used Chrome and it says , "This webpage is not available.", The webpage at http://rapidshare.com/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address....

I have another computer at home and that one also cannot access saying "This Page cannot Be Accessed"

I can access rapidshare.com using ihide but cannot download the files. When I download and opened, I found that the file size is just small kilobytes.

Please help me everyone and instruct me what to do .... :(

Yes, everyone got no problem, only me :(

Its strange that when I ping the address, there is a response.
All I have to do is, I have to use a proxy site .. but they cant help download files but accessing only.
Help me think of a solution.

I have to believe you have a local issue with some restrictions on your computer. Since both IE and FF have the problem, the first place I'd look is the firewall configuration and the HOSTS file.

Please do this.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

TRACERT rapidshare.com/

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Thank you hewee, I can access rapidshare.de, but just one website .. every URL that starts with rapidshare.com :(

Thanks you very much for your interest JohnWill ...
At the first place I also thought firewall fault, but all the computers at home cannot access rapidsahre.com, (some don't even have firewall)

does that mean router problem (last night I reset the router, that won't make a difference).

The following are the results as you instructed ...

Well, that trace indicates you can indeed get to Rapidshare, so it's not an Internet issue. I suspect that maybe something is configured odd on the router, but that's just a guess.

Some things you can try here for the router.

  1. Update the firmware to the latest version available on the manufacturer's site.
  2. Reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure.

I made a direct connect with modem to computer without using my router as well. That also didn't work for me. Now I am so confused. Please help me bro ! :(

If all the computers can't access it, and connecting directly to the modem doesn't solve it, I'd have to start suspecting the ISP. Did you try a different computer directly to the modem, just to make SURE it's not computer specific?

Thank you very much for your continuous help. I connected directly to modem with my other laptop and the same outcome resulted.
Now I am using a proxy software called Your-Freedom and it helps me to download some files from rapidshare but not all of them.
I also suspect with my ISP, coz I am afraid that they would bar my IP from accessing rapidshare.com. Can it be possible ?

The only way to be sure is to actually ask them. I guess if you know someone else that uses the same ISP, you could have them do a test...

Hi JohnWill ...
this evening , in a sudden, a weird thing happen with my connection. All the web sites that I mostly access cannot appear in my browser just like I've experienced in rapidshare. I tried to clear the cache with CCleaner and all the which i suspect. Then I restart my PC and I found that I can re-access back my rapidshare ... I think that's got to do with the ISP. So anyway, I really appreciate your helps. Thank you so much in deed ! :p
