All of a sudden my pc has become very slow. The CPU usage is constantly at 100%. I have no programmes running in the background and loads of space left on my hard drive.

if i look under the processes tab right now it looks like this:

    firefox.exe 33,240
    svchost.exe 10,028
    explorer.exe 7,352

I cant seem to work out what is wrong.

You listed the sizes, but open Task Manager and Check Show processes from all users. Then click the CPU column header and post the top CPU usage items.
