Hi can anyone help me clean up my daughter’s Laptop???
It has been infected with the “XP Smart Security malware.”

Every avenue of repair seems to be blocked.
(1)I have managed to download SuperAntiSpyware & run it. All the crap (Trojans) was deleted.
(2)The machine is still bugged however as the “Open With” box appears whenever any program or “Run” command is attempted.

    (3)I have downloaded this fix….

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    @="\"%1\" %*"
    "Content Type"="application/x-msdownload" ………………….

Saved it in Notepad and transferred it by a stick to her machine. But when I double-click it the Registry-editing is disabled by administrator message comes up.

When I try to solve this issue by this method……………….
    • Go to Start -> Run -> type
    REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableRegistryTools /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f
    • Press Enter and you are done!
    • ……………….The dreaded “Open with” box comes up
(4)System Restore is “Disabled by Administrator”
If I try to repair this by Run/regedit.exe I get the dreaded “Open with” box again

(5)I have downloaded MalwareBytes to my machine & transferred by stick to her Laptop. The Istallation was very iffy with the dreaded “Open with” of course, but something ran on “start”. However the Update hit a Problem Message with a query to report it to Malwarebytes.

(6)What should I do. Every avenue of repair seems blocked?
