HELP!! Please :) I am using an older Toshiba Satellite A5-S1592 and every time I start, I get a window telling me a need the 'video controller'. This laptop is less than 10 yrs. old, but I called Toshiba, and although the guy was nice, he looked and looked, and found nothing.

Hi, are you have any problems related to the 'Video Controller?'
Does your Pc start up and run a Ok?

Let us have some Pc specifications.
    Check and post

    ------
    Download Security Check by screen317
    http://screen317.spywareinfoforum.org/
    Save it to your Desktop.

Double click the install icon - if you have Windows Xp installed.
Right click and select "Run as Administrator" - if you are using Vista or Win 7.
A command Prompt window will open.
Let it scan the Pc - press any key when asked.
It should now open in Notepad - and will save a log called checkup.txt.
Post the result of the scan here.

Start > Search box - Type
    msconfig
    Under the Start Up Tab.
    Untick all entries Except

Norton does not always show in the start up list but will be running.

Apply > Ok > Reboot your Pc.

The System Configuration Utility box appear on retstart - saying changes have been made.
Tick the box on the lower left and then OK.

Any entry can be re-enabled using msconfig - if it needs to be

Is your laptop actually a Toshiba Satellite A35-S1592?

Right-click MY COMPUTER, then click Properties - Hardware - Device Manager.
What's listed in the Display Adapters heading?

I know this may sound strange
but, i have had two instances where the computer would indicate a problem with video controller and even if you try to re-install the drivers, it would not install.
the problem in both my cases had nothing to do with the actual video controller
believe it or not, the problem was with a failing harddrive

find out the make of your harddrive and run a test on it, to make sure it is not failing
seagate and western digital have their own utilities to test harddrive
