i used sygate personal firewall before but my computer crushed every now and then so i got rid of it. when my computer crushed i wanted to restart by using alt+ctrl+del and i noticed that next to this application was written "no response" and it was the same all the time. My scandisk said that this application had a file length that was unusal.

Make sure all files are unhidden like so:

    Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    Select the View Tab.
Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    Click Yes to confirm.
    Click OK.
Click Start, Programs and Accessories and open Windows Explorer.
Select a hard drive from the left hand side of the Windows Explorer window.
Select View the Entire contents of this drive

I am highly suspicious of that file. Do you use AOL at all? I don't see any other entries in the log.

When you navigate to C: the file should be in there.

Rescan with Hijack This and have it fix this entry:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AOL icon] C:\aolmicon.exe

Click here: http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.exe to download Pocket KillBox.

Unzip the files to the folder of your choice.

Run Pocket Killbox and click on Tools > Delete Temp Files and let it do its thing.

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Now put a tick by Delete on Reboot. In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste the following line then click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle. It will ask for confimation to delete the file on next reboot. Click Yes. It will then ask if you want to reboot now. Click Yes.

    C:\aolmicon.exe

Reboot and post another log please.

Rescan with Hijack This, close all browser windows except Hijack This, put a check mark beside these entries and click “fix checked”.

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank

If you're not using the AOL toolbar then include this entry as well:
    O8 - Extra context menu item: &Recherche AOL Toolbar - res://C:\PROGRAM FILES\AOL TOOLBAR\TOOLBAR.DLL/SEARCH.HTML

    O9 - Extra button: Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - C:\PROGRA~1\MESSEN~1\MSMSGS.EXE (file missing)

    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: MSN Messenger Service - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - C:\PROGRA~1\MESSEN~1\MSMSGS.EXE (file missing)

    O9 - Extra button: Related - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm

    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Show &Related Links - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm

Then locate and delete this folder, if you're not using the AOL toolbar:

    C:\PROGRAM FILES\AOL TOOLBAR

How to restart to safe mode:
    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...2001052409420406?OpenDocument&src=sec_doc_nam

Please download and run the following program(s):

    AD-AWARE

    Go here: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/
    and download Ad-Aware SE Personal

Install the program and launch it.

First, in the bottom right-hand corner of the main window click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

Then, in the main window: Click Start and under Select a scan Mode tick Perform full system scan.

Then, deselect Search for negligible risk entries.

To start the scan, click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and then click Next)

Restart your computer and post another log please.
