I have a problem with my new Dell dimension 3000, it was working fine for several weeks then suddenly I have no desktop sounds from it. It has Win XP home with an integrated sound card on the M/board.
After setting up a new d/top sound scheme I can hear some sounds that are native with the computer but the custom sounds I pasted into the "sounds" folder in Windows, still cant be heard. I then tried deleting the custom sounds & repasting them into the folder, but they still cant be heard.
All other sound from CDs, DVDs & mp3s on the hd csn be heard normally.

Make sure they are the right format. Also, I believe many of the sounds native to Windows are made at a very low bitrate, so doublecheck that as well.
