I am having a difficult time dealing with passthisson.com. It seems that my girlfriend somehow got routed to the page and of course clicked 'YES' to run the script and now every time I restart my computer my homepage in IE is always reset to www.passthison.com (DON'T GO HERE BY THE WAY FOR THOSE READING THIS). Not to mention the 100's of popups I'm getting. The only way I can get work done on my computer is to disconnect my comptuer from the cable modem. If anyone can give me some insight as to how I can fix this problem I would be very greatfull because I'm considering formating my hard drive and reloading. Thanks for listening and I'm anxiously awaiting any good advice.

    Welcome to TSG!

Please do this. Go here http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ and download Hijack This. Un Zip it and click on the Hijackthis.exe.

Click the "Scan" button when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.

Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.

Do NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless. Someone here will be glad to advise you on what to fix.

That is only a partial log. We really need to see the whole thing. However I can see enough to advise you as to what to do before posting another log.

Click on the link below and it will download CWShredder. Close all browser windows. UnZip it and click on the cwshredder.exe and let it do it's thing.

    http://www.spychecker.com/download/download_cwshredder.html

When it is finished restart your computer.

Go here http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ and download Adaware 6

Install the program and launch it.

I strongly recommend that you read the help file to familiarize yourself with the program.

Before running the scan look at the top of the main window and you will see a Gear Icon. This is where you configure the settings. Click on that and then in the next window that pops up click on the "Scanning" tab on the left side. Under "Drives and Folders" put a check by "Scan within archives" and below that under "Memory and Registry" put a check by all the options there.
The click on the "Tweak" tab and under "Scanning engine" put a check by "Unload recognized processes during scanning" ...........then......under "Cleaning engine" put a ckeck by "Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion" and "Let windows remove files in use at next reboot" then click "Proceed"

Next in the main window look in the bottom right corner and click on "Check for updates now" and get the latest referencefiles.
After getting the latest referencefiles you are ready to scan.

Click "Start" and in the next window make sure "Active in depth scanning" is checked then click "Next" and the scan will begin.

When it is finished let it fix everything it finds.

    Restart your computer.

Then go here http://spybot.eon.net.au/index.php?lang=en&page=download and download Spybot.

Install the program and launch it.

Before scanning press "Online" and "Search for Updates" .

Put a check mark at and install all updates.

Click "Check for Problems" and when the scan is finished let Spybot fix/remove all it finds.

    Restart your computer.

Be sure and take advantage of the "Immunize" feature in Spybot.

Finally go here http://www.net-integration.net/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?;act=ST;f=38;t=3051 for info on how this happens and how to help prevent future attacks.
On this page you will find a link to Javacool's SpywareBlaster and Spyware Guard. Get them both and check for updates frequently.
The Immunize feature in Spybot used in conjunction with SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard and weekly scans with Spybot and Adaware will go a long way toward keeping you spyware free.

Important!: ALWAYS check for updated detections and referencefiles before scanning with Spybot and Adaware. And be sure to check for updates to SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard on a weekly basis.

After all that come back here and post another log. Be sure you get it all this time. To ensure that you get it all to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the entire log back here in a reply. There will be items left that require manual removal.

Are you using Kazaa to share files? If so, then you need to remove it since it's packed with spyware/adware baddies.

    (y) Ok, all is done and it seems to be working great now. I don't have any more pop ups from what I can see and everything thing else is working smoothly. Thank you so much for you help. I am very very very thrilled with the quick and amazingly helpful responses.

As to the other question, yes I do have Kazaa installed. I will uninstall it, however I need a file sharing program. Can anyone tell me of a good file sharing program that isn't loaded that stuff? Thanks again for the help, I am truly grateful.

You should probably use KazaaBegone to remove Kazaa. If you completed everything I suggested and let Spybot and adaware remove everything they found Kazaa will no longer work any way as they remove the spyware components without which Kazaa will not work. Also it may not uninstall from Add/Remove either.

    Get KazaaBegone here.

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=3446

After that get Kazaalite here: (This is a direct dowload link. The download will begin when you click on the link)

    http://fe1.edskes.com/k/klitekpp242e.exe

Kazaalite is the same as Kazaa without the spyware.
