HELP, PC wont POST after trying old HD in and putting new 1 in

    PLEASE help me iam in a mess, im fixing a PC for a customer and had her spend £38 on 2nd hand tower, i turned it on and it worked fine (Win2000) boot up ok, so i turn it off and replace Hard Drive with old one from broken PC (PSU blew i think) with XP on and all her data that she would like back....

    it wouldnt start so i put the old HD back and now it wont even POST, no signal

    PLEASE can any1 help asap , she is expecting it back tomoz...

    I cant believe this has happened

    so you didnt change any of the jumpers or anything
    you may have just disturbed something
    I would reseat everthing and make sure all the cables are connected OK

    you may want to just have the PSU / Motherboard / graphics card and see if it post and you can get into the bios

    otherwise just possible the IDE cable is busted

    Its started up again PHEW!!!, left it for 10 mins...
    Im putting XP on it but wud like to add the 'HD' that caused this problem as 2nd drive also so I can access the files she needs back, wot u reckin?

    what was the original problem ?
    I would make sure the PC - works all OK with XP first and runs for a while OK

    left 10mins maybe a temp issue
