My HDD died so i decided to change it with an old laptops hard drive, nothing seems to be wrong at first but i have noticed that
even the driver manager wont recognize my graphics driver/card and its showing up as standard VGA graphcs driver adapter, I have tried downloading the drivers for the in built graphics card which is a nvidia geforce 410m but the installer does not recognize it in the laptop, i also noticed the operating system the harddrive had is an 32 bit whilst the old HDD had 64 bit ... :(( please i'm really desperate for help my laptop is a sony vaio vpcej2b1e , the hard drive im using now is also from a toshiba laptop, so its showing as toshiba instead of 'sony'.

p.s. anyone who helps me, will get a free drawing ;-; !! < graphics artist :<

you need to re-install the operating system from scratch

Do you have the recovery DVDs from the Sony at all ?

You can't remove a hard drive containing Windows 7 that's in a Toshiba laptop and then install it in a Sony laptop and then expect it to work.

Is it Windows 7 Home Basic or Home Premium or Professional or Ultimate, 32-bit or 64-bit?

What's the model name and model number of the Toshiba laptop?

Which country do you live in?

Its a windows Ultimate 32-bit but the previous OS on the laptop was windows home premium 64-bit, I have gotten the laptop from an america store though I live in the UK, and the model of the toshiba laptop is NB255-N250.

That is actually a Toshiba Mini Notebook NB255-N250

According to its detailed specifications section, it originally came with Windows 7 Starter 32-bit.

yes originally, im not the real owner of the laptop of the notebook as I bought it from a secondary store, I only decided to use the HDD as the original HDD of the vaio has turned to RAW, is it possible to retrieve the info in this drive and use it for the original drivers and OS of the system ? I do have a disk reader

you need to re-install windows home premium 64-bit onto the Sony PC
using a recovery Disk or an OEM windows home premium 64-bit DVD

Ultimate is likely to be a non-genuine copy of windows

Sony nolonger makes laptops and the recovery pages nolonger exist

It maybe possible to recover data from the OLD Disk
    using recovery programs

I have checked through the verify this windows and it's saying its geniune but when i pasted the key through the site an error was showing up, so yeah i guess the ultimate is non-genuine. :/

Thank you frank! I have started to download the OS , i think it's an official download site but im pretty sure its a trial of it, if it comes to that i'll just have to buy it again, anyways I will be burning it onto a bootable usb.

The only legal site to download Windows 7 32-bit/64-bit so you can create a bootable DVD or bootable USB thumb drive is here:

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery

You need to enter the 25-character product key that's on that laptop.

If it's accepted, Microsoft will allow you to download the necessary Windows 7 ISO file.

    ---------------------------------------------------------

A site that sells you a Windows 7 Home Premium product key for $26.88 is not selling you a legal one.

The product key is what you actually pay for, and not the DVD.

A legal copy of Windows 7 (if you can find it) sells for well over $100.00.
