I'm running XP, and I've got a lot of issues that I believe may be caused by malware...however, all of my programs designed to combat malware have stopped working and I can't download anything to help. Additionally, my "Add/Remove" programs in Windows will not show any programs, my printer shows up as not being hooked up, RegSeeker won't run, and my current AV--MIcrosoft Security Essentials, won't complete the update and when scanning, finds nothing. Malwarebytes gives me error messages saying a component is missing. I tried removing it with CCleaner and then downloading it again, but the download wouldn't work. About the only thing that seems to be working right now is the internet. I've tried booting into Safe Mode and running those things as well, but no. If you have any suggestions for me, I'd really appreciate the help.

Update: after switching from Chrome to Firefox, I was able to download Malwarebytes and will see if that finds anything. After that I will try to implement the suggestions found at the top of this section (Virus and Malware Removal). Then again, it's Christmas Eve and I have to work today...it might not get done for several days. I will provide updates.
