hello guys so im bad with computers and i play on a laptop which ahs a 940mx which had 4gb of Vram But using CPU Z and in my bios and even in my windows device specifications it says i have 8GBS of VRAM and in windows it says i have 7.9gbs of them available but my games only say i have 4029 gbs available and only utilize those how can i get them to use all of my 8gbs (do i even have 8 gbs ? and if those arent 8gbs of vram then what is it)
EDIT: it says that i have a type: DDR4

If your laptop is able to load its Windows operating system and has a working internet connection, please do the following in it:

Download and save the TSG System Information Utility (SysInfo.exe) file.
After it's been downloaded and saved, double-click it to run it.
Information about your laptop will appear.
Return back here, then copy-and-paste its entire text in your reply.

According to your log, your Lenovo laptop(unknown model number and serial number) has these specs:
Intel Core i7-7500U 2.70 GHz dual core processor
Intel HD Graphics 620 integrated graphics
8 GB of DDR4 RAM (7.87 GB is usable for Windows 10)

Are you sure your laptop has NVIDIA GeForce 940MX dedicated graphics?
Which graphics device is listed in the advanced display settings?
What does it show for dedicated and shared and total video memory?

Im sorry for the delay I've had a busy day I'm confident I have a 940mx as it came with my pc and I have the invidea application and cpuz also confirms that my integrated graphics is the Intel tho but it isn't the one set for gaming (bad grammar since written in my phone)

Go into the Device Manager window and then expand the Display adapters heading.
What is the exact name of the graphics device(s) listed there?

You have 8GB of normal motherboard memory (8GB DDR4). You have 4GB of dedicated DDR3 VRAM with the 940mx. Don't confuse the two your games are displaying what your GPU actually gives you for games as available for your GPU.
