My computer is able to connect to wifi and the internet works fine but when I hook up my ethernet cord it says server ip address could not be found. Any help would be appreciated.

    What server?

    For the ethernet connection ...

Open a (black) Command Prompt window:
Hold the Windows logo key and press r; in the Run box type cmd and click on OK.
(In Windows 10 you may have to use some other procedure to get a Command Prompt window.)

    Type the following command:

    IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

    [Press ENTER after the command.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

Open up the properties of the Ethernet controller. Go to Internet Protocol IP v.4. THen make sure that both "obtain a IP address automatically" and the "Obtain DNS server(s) automatically" are both checked. You should reboot after. Just to make sure any IP is renewed. You may also want to, if that doesn't work, try to disable the WIFI card, then see if you can connect.
