Is there a simpler way to remove Norton AV Corp. 7.61 other than entering the registry. Don't feel very comfortable going in it.
Thanks

there is no easy way to get norton out. if you have uninstalled it with your add/ remove program and run easycleaner ,then goto start - find [search] -files and folders -type in norton -search and right click on the items to delete -do the same for symantec - run easycleaner again.

We have SAV CE 9 and have previosuly installed Norton AV CE 7. Symantec provided us with removal tools for the Corporate Edition of Norton AV and they worked fine.

We do of course pay for support and are licenced :)

OK I guess there are no other options. I'm going into the registry.

Stop the Norton AntiVirus Client and Defwatch services if they are running.
Navigate to the following subkey:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\Shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

Delete the LDVPMenu entry.
Navigate to the following subkey:
Problem symantec's instructions don't match what I have. There isn't a shellexcontextMenuhandler
HELP
