    I am having a little trouble setting up my home network. I have two machines running xp pro connected to a linksys router. On the one machine I can see both computers the other I cannot. When I try to access the other machine it says denied you may not have the correct permissions. I have check all the names and workgroups, everything seems to be correct. Can anyone offer any advice?

    Thanks

    This is from memory as not at a Xp box at the moment....

    Enable NetBIOS over tcp and run Local Security Policy Editor from Control Panel Admin Tools - set the local policy to Network Access: Let everyone permissions apply to anonymous users to enabled - also make sure guest account is enabled

    or

    Start-->Programs-->Administrative Tools-->Local Security Policy

    Security Settings

    Sharing Mode - Change this to "Classic Mode - Local users Authenticate as Themselves" (as opposed to "Guest only" the default model)

    Restart PC
