Help Starting Counter Strike: Source

I'm getting the black screen at main menu. I assume it's my vid card but I thought it should be able to run it properly... what might be the problem that I need to upgrade?

I can't get past main menu. It's black but I do hear button sounds of the main menu. This is laptop, by the way.
