I have just installed XP Pro on my pc, I now want to add a second partition which i hope to use for back up, The problem is when I installed xp I allocated ALL of the hard drive for the Xp parition, now when I go in to admin tools, to disk managment there is no unallocated disc space to add a partition.
    Can anyone help

The only way that i know that u can divide your hard drives into partitions after u have installed XP and allocated all of the space to one partition, is to get partition magic. It allows u to make post Windows XP install changes to partitions on the hard drive. It is not free, but it might be the easiest fix

You sort of answered your own question here. I am unaware of anyway to add a partition without any space for one or dividing an existing one with XP. Besides starting over you might try partitionmajic, Partition commander or one of the many free partion utility downloads out there.
