Thanks in advance! I have run spybot, and adaware and nothing will get rid of it. I scaned the system, and can't seem to find it in any other place than cookies and other areas like history files and internet files.... agghhh. Where is it and where do I go???

    Thanks,

    Belle

The newest version of HijackThis is 1.98.2 and can be downloaded from here.

I'm not knowledgeable enough in editing a HijackThis log, but I can tell enough from yours to see that some spyware is present and that some "O2" entries need to be removed. Be patient and wait for someone else more knowledgeable than me to advise you what to remove from it.

The number of running processes that you have is excessive. Some of them can be disabled and prevented from loading during startup and running in the background. The trimmer the startup load is, the better your computer will run and the less problems it'll have.

    Hi and welcome to TSG,

Please download the newer version of Hijack This, 1.98.2 and do not download it to the desktop. ItÂ’s very important that you save it to its own folder on your hard drive, such as program files (not temporary files or the desktop), so that it can create proper back-ups and be able to restore them if necessary.

    You can get it here:

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html

    Then post another log please.

    Cookiegal, I think we're following each other.:D

Hurricane Frances is blowing through here:eek: and I'm killing time on-line, while we still have power.

Yes, Frank. I hope it loses force very soon. It's been a terrible season for hurricanes. So much devastation. Last evening I heard from a friend in Nassau. She managed to get through to me with her cell phone but they had no power or water.

    Stay safe :)

    Restart in safe mode

Open Windows Explorer. Go to Tools, Folder Options and click on the View tab. Make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files". Now click "Apply to all folders"
    Click "Apply" then "OK".

    Now empty these folders:
    C:\Documents and Settings\all profiles\local settings\temp
NOTE: all profiles means all of the profiles on the machine
    c:\temp
    c:\windows\temp

    Empty your recycle bin.

    Reboot and post another log.

    c:\temp
    c:\windows\temp

Where should I go to "empty" these folders? Do you mean delete them? I can't find the "all profiles" one, and I am not sure how to "empty" them.... only.

do I go into the C drive then pull the files up and delete them?

I am so sorry, but I am really slow and I would like not to loose all my information on this computer if I make a misake!

    Thanks,
    Belle

Cybertech is asking you to empty the contents of the temporary folders.

All profiles refers to whatever name you and anyone else who uses the computer use, if there is more than one profile. It could be administrator or owner or any other name.

In your case, if you only have one profile it's called owner, but don't delete that file. The string gives you the entire path to navigate to the temporary folders so that you can empty them. In other words, in the first example, open up your C drive, then click on Documents and Settings folder, then click on owner folder, then click on local settings, then click on temp folder to open it but don't delete the folder itself.

    C:\Documents and Settings\owner\local settings\temp

If there is more than one profile then you will have to repeat the process and substitute the word owner for the other name.

I hope this clarifies it for you.
