I just got an Apple TV for Christmas and I have figured out how to do the basics such as being able to watch videos and listen to music in my iTunes library on it but I was wondering if there is any way to be able to watch movies that I have stored on my laptop (NOT an Apple laptop) and that is not in iTunes format on my Apple TV. Basically, is there any way for my to sync up my laptop to my Apple TV without going through iTunes to be able to play movies that I might have in a non-iTunes supported format or is that something that you just can't do.

Thanks!

Likely possible with an external HDD. I don't see it working with a PC.

Import the music and videos into your iTunes library. That's the only way.
