Happy New Year. I have a Dell computer that came with a bunch of fancy junk. Hoping for help with the startup file so I can optimize this machine. With a full boot it runs at only 75% and I don't need anything extra in the systray, but I'm unsure what to remove from startup. Here's the delays in the bootlog.txt:

Hello Dor,

It will be easier if you will copy and paste the startup programs rather than the bootlog.txt. Go to Start/Run. Type Msinfo32 and click OK. Expand Software enviroment and select "Startup programs". Thanks, KW1

The bootlog delays and the startup>resource problem are different. To reduce the resource overhead, do as Kilowatt suggested.

But there is some serious issue with your sound card drivers and the delays associated with them. I don't know what's causing it. Was the system ever reformatted from it's original configuration?

Have you done anything to change the sound card installation?

You might try removing and reinstalling it via the Device Manager.

Rog,

No, I've never messed with the sound card. Two are listed in Device Manager: Logitech Microphone (Pro 3000) and SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio. Should I remove and reinstall both of them?

Thanks.

:D OK Dor,

Try this on for size.

Go to Start/Run. Type msconfig. Click on the Startup tab. Uncheck everything except the following:

Scanreg
Systray
LoadPowerProfiles(x2)
hpjsiroute Reg
hpppta Reg
Precision Scan
zzzHPsetup Reg
Win32SL Reg
3Com DMI Agent
pcAnywhere Agent
POINTER (Optional)
Multimedia Keyboard (Optional)
NDPS reg (Optional)
StillImage(Optional)
DMILDR Reg (Don't know)

If you have a problem after unchecking something you can go back and recheck it. (SafeMode if necessary)

Hope this helps. KW1
