Can you use a different machine and save the drivers to a thumb drive or burn them to a cd?

Right-click MY COMPUTER, click Properties - Hardware - Device Manager, then click the + in Network Adapters.

What's listed there and which one are you looking for a driver?

Do any of the entries show a question mark or exclamation mark or X next to it?

ya that is the strange thing about it, it don't pop up in the device manager as a driver needed to be install, it only is showing my wifi driver.

    You're not answering my question.

What's listed for adapters in the "Network Adapters" menu?

nope, i still don't get the wire connection.

I did a reinstall with win xp home on this comp, the comp if fully up to date with Microsoft, all i need now is to figure out the Ethernet driver problem.

Your laptop obviously has both WIRED and WIRELESS adapters. If the drivers for both are installed, both will be listed in the "Network Adapters" sub-menu in the Device Manager. If the driver for one or both adapters isn't installed, they won't appear in the sub-menu. There will also be an additional entry in the Device Manager with a yellow question question and with the name "Unknown Device" or "PCI Communications" or something like that.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Except for the Broadcom 570x Gigabit Integrated Controller, all the other network adapters are wireless adapters.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

I did a reinstall with win xp home on this comp

Did you do the reinstall of XP with an actual XP CD or with a recovery CD?
