hi,
I have read through some of the forum discussions after finding this site on a search engine. I downloded hijack this and did a search and I wanted to post my log because I dont know what is safe to delete and what isnt.
I had XXX tool bar on my computer which I unistalled, my virus software picked up and quarantined WIN32US.exe, it has also quarantined two more since that.
CFCF.exe and VSMON.exe but says virus name (unknown)
there is a number on my start up 56313723.exe which is set to execute at every boot, but I have disabled that so it cant.
sighssss
Im all frazzeled, have done virus scans both with my software(quickheal) and also online with bitdefender and trend housecall... they say no virus detected.
My zone alarm program keeps shutting down because some file is currupt or something... I have managed to uninstall and reinstal it twice so far, but only lasts a day or so and crashes again.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
here is the log from hijack this

Restart your computer

Zonealarm shuts down because Vsmon was corrupted by the virus, so uninstall Zonealarm using the instructions on this page before re-installing it

Do a search for the CFCF.exe file and delete it

thankyou for your help,
I have followed the instructions for hijack this, and also unisntalled zone alarm as per instructions and reinstalled it.
I still have a question though.
the file that is set to exectue at ever boot (56313723.exe ) which I have unchecked so it doesnt run, should I leave it there or remove it? , and if I need to remove it can you tell me how please?

I also did another run with hijack this, which I will now post so you can tell me if its all gone please. Oh and I had to reset QuickHeal to exectue at startup of my system again... this is how it picked up the virus to start with. Im not sure if the virus is gone or not... fuess Im a little paranoid now..lol. anyway I much appriciate your help thanks again.... Tracy

your log is clean tracy.........

the file 56313723.exe must be deleted.
you will find it here:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\56313723.exe

NOTE:it will have changed its name......look for a file in that location with 8 numbers and delete it....you may have to boot into safe mode by tapping the f8 key a few times as windows boots (at the "BEEP")

let us know if this works

;)

Do this in order:

1) Open Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options -> delete cookies, delete files (select off-line content), clear history. Then click ok and exit Internet Explorer.

2) Read http://tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/index1.html then download and run SpyBot. Make sure to get the updates for SpyBot before you have it scan your computer. After you scan and remove anything SpyBot finds, make sure to click the Immunize button and OK and then click the Immunize button in the right pane.

3) Run one of the following free Anti-Virus programs here:

http://housecall.trendmicro.com - I found this to work the best.

http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan

http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan

4) Re-post HiJackThis log.

Try pressing the F8 Key as the computer restarts to get you into safe mode, which provides a minimal startup

It may well just be showing in the Msconfig list now,
