I just did a restor on my computer....now when I try to open up IE I get "Welcome to Compaq Internet Signup"? I have tried several times to get rid of this but it won't let me past this point. I DO not use Compaq Internet service...I have a DSL account though my local phone company. How do I go about getting reid of this Compaq Sign up crap and just have plain ole I.E. ?? I called my ISP they have no idea what to do...I called Compaq and they wanted to charge me an arm and a leg.

    Any Help out there ??

    Check out this link :

    http:www.spywareinfo.com

Read about Spyware and see item about Browser Hijacking.

If necessary d/l and Spybot Search & Destroy and also Hijack This. Using these you should be able to rid your system of whatever is causing this.

A further link may be of some use for further info about pc security :

Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel. Double click Internet or Internet Options. Go to connections and click Setup. When the screen comes up , click I want to setup my account manually or using a LAN, then Click, I connect useing a Local Area Network or a LAN, then Say no, and click finish. Then open IE and you should be online.

Glad I was able to help Jim.
When you do a restore, windows doesn't know how you connect and tries to set you up as dial up.
    Have a great one, Del
