I think this is the right place to post.

Anyway all my icons on my desktop are zoomed in, when i zoom them out the space between them is huge and on all applications everything is zoomed in. My start bar has text that is really zoomed in. Even the minimise, restore down and red cross in the top right corner of my browser are zoomed in. Any ideas on how I can make this smaller. ( I have already tried changing my resolution).

    Thanks

    Mark

What is the resolution set to?
What led up to this problem? Did you get any errors? Make any changes? Did anyone else use the computer?
    Did you reinstall Windows?
Did you just buy this computer and it came this way?
Or did you turn it on one day and see the problem? If so, did you try System Restore back to a date before the problem started?

So everything is large? I guess I don't get what it really looks likes. You say "zoomed in". To me that means everything is large and out of focus, but you're talking about icon spacing and other things. A screen shot might help.

i think the picture is attached. As you can see from it, the spacing is large between the icons. The text is larger than i have normally seen and the red cross in the corner is large.

Someone clearly messed with the default display settings. It can be difficult to un-customize them. If you just finished a reinstall, I would suggest deleting and re-creating the profile.

That didn't work? You deleted the profile and re-created it, and it looked exactly the same? How did you reinstall Windows? From an OEM restore disk? From a retail disk?

There's something missing in the steps you went through since that is definitely not a standard display theme.

Yes i did and it just looked the same. I reinstalled windows by using the dell restore system that is built in.

As you can see from my picture, Macboat mine is set the same but the icons are still larger.
