I recently bought a used (reconditioned) HP Pavillion Entertainment Laptop. It was running fine until I let my daughter use it. :( She was playing a game and it froze on her. I ran a virus scan just to be on the safe side and it said that it had detected a Trojan virus. I followed the steps and was told that it had been removed. After the virus scan and supposed removal, it kept freezing and gave me a blue screen with white lettering. The computer restarted and I started it in Safe Mode with Networking. I did a system restore on the off chance that something had been maliciously downloaded. The system restarted on it's own and now all I get is a black screen, no cursor, no words..... nothing. I've tried F8 and F12 and that doesn't work either. I need my laptop for college and really don't have the money to replace it. Please HELP!!!  I also tried a hard reset by taking out the battery, removing the power source and then pressing the power button for two minutes before putting the battery back in and trying to turn it back on.

Check your user manual, there might be a recovery partition, most laptops have one. Usually you press a key during bootup to activate it and it will restore your Windows to out-of-box condition.

I have a netbook that requires you to run a program that starts the recovery processs. What is the model number of the laptop. We can go hunt for the manual.
