When my father passed away I received his laptop and I installed Windows Vista on it then a month later it said if there was an invalid key code when I entered it in it said it was still invalid so I bought a Windows 7 program to install instead but now I can't uninstall Vista it won't let me go to my main screen to do the uninstall and when I hit f8 at startup it does not give me the option to do a factory reset and the driver won't play the disc

    First Name:
Enter the BIOS by pushing F1, F2, Delete, F8, or F12 (usually) . One of them will get you into the BIOS. We need more info to direct you better. Please include PC model in the next post. Once you get in the BIOS change the boot order to the DVD (if you have a Windows 7 disk) or to the USB (if you have it on a USB) and boot up to the media. You can do the install from there.

You can use Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Disk Management > Disk Manager to delete the Vista partition.
