Hi Guys,

When you are connecting the hard drive, CD-Rom etc to the motherboard how do you know where on the motherboard those thick gray cables plug in and also which of the sockets on them should go into which device?

Thanks

On the motherboard it should identify them separately as IDE 1 & IDE 2. Plud the hard drive cable into IDE 1 and the cdrom into IDE2. There is a specific way that the cables go as well. You will notice a red edge on the IDE cables. This red edge when plugged into both the cdrom and hard drive should be closest to the 4 pin power plug. On the other end you should see a notch in both the cable end and socket. Just match them up.
