I've just about had it with trying to fix this!

    Here's the problem-

A while back my computer started doing odd things and I noticed most of them had to do with IE. I'd got tons of pop-ups and the scrolling and typing was all screwed up. I was told to download Ad-aware and check for spy/ad-ware. I did so and removed all of it that was found. I also downloaded AVG virus scan which wasn't much help at all. It kept going crazy telling me I had a trojan but never seemed to fix it. I got rid of that and got Etrust EZ Antivirus and Firewall Lite. That found two trojans and deleted them. After all of this I'm still having problems with IE. The scrolling and typing has been fixed but the pop-ups are way out of hand again and my virus scan detected a trojan when I clicked the search option in the IE browser.

Any suggestions on how to get rid of this for good?

IMHO the next step (after updating and running AdAware again) would be to get HijackThis..... Run it and then copy/paste the log back here for review..Also spend a little time on the Merjin site..lot of good info there

Might as well download and run several good Spyware and Trojan Removal programs first. No point in just finding out that you have a bunch that you are going to need to get rid of anyway. Also, I've never seen one get rid of them all.

For the pop-ups, the best I've seen is PopUp Cop. There are some free ones like Google but they just don't do as good a job.

    SpySweeper:

This will also protect your home page from being hijacked.

    Ad-Aware:

With any of the above three programs, just like with Anti-Virus software, should have the latest updates installed before doing a scan.

Programs that can help prevent getting infected:

Thank you for all the tips! I went ahead and downloaded hijackthis and did a scan. I made a new topic and posted the log. I figured people who understood the logs would be more likely to read it that way.

Of course I posted my topic titled "Help!" right before reading the tips page that said not to do that. :p
