when my laptop loads my desktop background ( photo of wife nd kids ) is on screen however when everything finishes loading desktop turns blue.

i have checked all my files and done a search of c: however the file is nowhere to be found, i believe it was accidentally deleted, however for it to appear as desktop is loading my settings it must still be stored somewhere.

    Please help

Your system makes a copy of the file and stores it under your documents & settings. It remembers the previous settings and that is why you see it on bootup and not when the machine has finished booting. do a search for the file type using a wildcard search. (ie. for jpeg files use *.jpg) Make sure you have turned on hidden files under explorer\tools\folder options\view and check "show hidden files & folders"
