Just re-installed Windows XP Pro, and i have not yet installed any drivers. Now ... from the modem to my laptop the INTERNET is working excellent, but when i plug the modem directly to my desktop (the one i re-installed windows xp pro) the internet will not work and the network connections says limited or no connectivity?

Why is this?

here is my desktop information

Is this modem a router/modem, or just a modem? If its a router/modem, and since you just rewrote the OS on your HD, did you ever have an install disk for this device?

Now then, if its a driver issue, and you're wondering how to get it to a machine that won't get online, no problem, especially with that laptop available. Simply download and SAVE TO A FLASH DRIVE all the Compaq's drivers, then walk them to the tower and install them that way.

As said, until you install the Motherboard/ Network card drivers it won't work.
