    My internet explorer wont open at all and I cant fix it...please help someone

    Are you using another computer to make this post or are you using another web browser on the problem PC?

    You can't open IE, you are not using a different computer, and you are not using a different browser to post. Just out of curiosity, how are you able to post w/o using a browser????

    Have you rebooted or checked in Task Manager to make sure IE is not still running--just not making itself evident?

    What version of IE and what version of Windows?

    I am trying to fix my desktop..i am posting from my laptop i have a Windown HP Pavillion desktop computer and i dont know what internet i am using its just internet explorer the older version i guess

    When you say that "Internet Explorer won't open" do you mean that you don't have access to the internet or that the Web Browser won't actually open?

    If it's the latter, try what TerryNet suggested and see if it's not already running by checking out Task Manager.

    Click Start (Left-down button)
    Click on Internet Explorer.
    What does it say?
    Something like this maybe?:
    The page cannot be found

    The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
    Please try the following:
    • Make sure that the Web site address displayed in the address bar of your browser is spelled and formatted correctly.
    • If you reached this page by clicking a link, contact the Web site administrator to alert them that the link is incorrectly formatted.
    • Click the Back button to try another link.
    HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found.
    Internet Information Services (IIS)


    Technical Information (for support personnel)
    • Go to Microsoft Product Support Services and perform a title search for the words HTTP and 404.
    • Open IIS Help, which is accessible in IIS Manager (inetmgr), and search for topics titled Web Site Setup, Common Administrative Tasks, and About Custom Error Messages.
