here is 1 for ya people

    ive got a sony dvd rw dw-g520a drive on my laptop and ive been burning dvds and cds for 3-4 months now and out the blue comes this!
    on my computer screen it comes up as (dvd-ram drive) thats ok but if you put in a dvd empty or full it just transforms in to a cd drive and also when i try to burn on nero and nothing happens can some 1 help cause im going nuts please!

    First thing to try is to go to Device Manager and uninstall the DVD-RW drive, reboot, and let Windows reinstall it.

    ive already done that and also uninstalled nero and reinstalled reboot and updated drivers also aspi has been updated!

    If you have access to another computer I'd quickly test it there.
