    Hi Guys

I have a heck of a racket coming from my heat sink and fan. If I hold the fan momentarily the noise is still there. could it be coming from the heat sink perhaps.

It is a Socket A processor and it is driving me up the wall

    Any Ideas?

    Cheers

    Gareth

Hi GARETHREES, Welcome to TSG !!
The fan should be replaced. Try reseating the cpu, heatsink, and fan. If it continues I would replace the fan.

If pushing down on it does not stop the noise it is definitely time to replace the fan before it goes and you end up burning out the cpu.

If you stop the fan momentarily and the noise is still there, look elsewhere. OTOH, if stopping the fan does kill the noise, as suggested, you need a new fan ASAP.

    Hi
Sorry for the late reply. I bought a new heatsink and fan and my pc is as quiet as a mouse again, and my nerves are back to normal, lol

    Thanks once again guys
