Since getting my current PC in June '08 (Intel mobo, E8400 Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, 500GB SATA drive, running Win XP-SP3), I couldn't help but notice that its time to hibernate is far longer than any previous PC that I've owned or worked on. Takes about 3 minutes. Why so long?

Computer exhibits no other problems; boots perfectly every time (although it takes 20 sec. for the BIOS screen to show vs. most PCs where it appears almost instantly after powering up), never crashes, processes large files rapidly, comes out of standby or hibernation perfectly, connects to the Internet reasonably fast, etc.

How much stuff are you running when you go to hibernate? What are you running?
Most times when the system goes to hibernate (I don't put it there; it goes there after 3 hours in standby), nada is running, because I've closed all programs. Of course, my anti-virus (Avira) is running in the background, as is Google Desktop, but nothing else.
