I wanted to check out the news on Topix so after the page came up I copied the addy out of the address bar and pasted it into chat for a friend and then we both saw:

.0:web:"http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Etopix%2Ecom%2Fus":1:1:http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Etopix%2Ecom%2Fus:http://www.topix.com/us/url] app...opy and paste of [url]http://www.topix.com/us into chat to render the same results twice.

It could be a restriction of some sort with the chat client you're using. Perhaps a way to thwart spambots posting their links?

It definitely sounds like something at the chat client end, unless this is the only website you're receiving the problem with?

I can't imagine it being a hijack attempt. Either that or the encryption in the site is messed up big style and their jumbling their URLs. What chat client were you using to get it to display like this? I certainly haven't seen anything like it before.
