    Hi and welcome to TSG.
Post a Hijack this log..log experts will check it.
    http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTsetup.exe

    Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.

Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click Edit > Select All> Edit > Copy to copy the entire contents of the log.
Paste the log in your next reply.

DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Hi the Hijack this log will show most of the programs and applications running on your system.
    Including bad ones.
A log expert will have to check it..as it takes some skill to understand what it contains.
Until a virus or spyware is removed your system will remain open to attack not just incoming but outgoing information.
Post the log when you are ready.

After you do "Scan and save a log file" Notepad should open. Click your left mouse button in the top left corner and hold it down. Drag the mouse down to the end of the text so it is all highlighted. Right click Copy. Then back here in a reply window, right click Paste.

Run HJT again and put a check in the following:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SpywareBot] C:\Program Files\SpywareBot\SpywareBot.exe -boot
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SpywareBot] C:\Program Files\SpywareBot\SpywareBot.exe -boot

Close all applications and browser windows before you click "fix checked".

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only

    • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
      Under Main choose: Select All
      Click the Empty Selected button.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Download and scan with SUPERAntiSpyware Free for Home Users
    • Double-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
    • An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
    • If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download and unzip them from here.)
    • Under "Configuration and Preferences", click the Preferences button.
    • Click the Scanning Control tab.
    • Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):
      • Close browsers before scanning.
      • Scan for tracking cookies.
      • Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
    • Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen.
    • Back on the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer.
    • On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.
    • On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan.
    • Click "Next" to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
    • After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK".
    • Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click "Next".
    • A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu.
    • If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes".
    • To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
      • Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
      • Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
      • If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor.
      • Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply with a new hijackthis log.
    • Click Close to exit the program.

    Hi All

I have been out of action for some time but I am back to health again.

I am happy to report That AVG found my 'Hidden Virus' about a week ago on one of its regular sweeps. It turned out to be Trojan Horse Generic 8.1 JW and I want to thank Blues Harp 25 and Cybertech with their great help. It was much appreciated.

I now have another problem. I have a 'open file' warning coming from the Microsoft security centre when I first open my screen. The file is reported as 'registrycleanfix.exe' which I can't find. I know I deleted a file with this title without opening it and it seems that this is a leftover from that programme. I would appreciate any help on this.

    many thanks

    Hi jack67.
Best thing you can do is to follow cybertech's advice and run ATF Cleaner..SUPERAntiSpyware
and post a new Hijack this log along with the SuperAntiSpyware log.
