I was trying to sort out a friend's computer the other day, getting rid of spyware (ad aware), viruses(Trend Housecall), etc, when checking his startup items in "msconfig" I noticed a few XXX items, dialers and what not that ad aware hadn't picked up. I imediately disabled them, but wanted to delete them, too. They were said to be in a folder called "Comms" which is in the "Program files" directory, these folders are completely hidden from me so I can't delete or uninstall the suspect items. I have changed folder options to show hidden items to no avail.

Can anyone suggest any way I can find and delete these items?

Download Hijack This, scan and post a scan log.

Go here and download HijackThis
Winzip Self-extracting archive It will extract to C:\Program files
Doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please copy & paste its contents to the forum.

It will possibly show other issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

If you have fixed anything with Spybot Search and Destroy,AdAware or any other spyware scanners...please reboot before scanning.

Please disable all Anti Spyware Scanners until your problem is resolved
