    I am a teacher who would like to hide the control panel so that students are not able to remove items and destroy important info. How would I do it?

    If everyone uses the same logon install poledit from the Windoze CD and create a local policy. It is pretty self explanitory once you get the thing running. Go here for more info:

    Look for a program called TweakUI.

    go to this article for more information about it.

    This will enable you to "remove" control Panel icons from use.

    Take a look.

    You might also try this:

    Copy the bold to Notepad:

    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
    "NoControlPanel"=hex:01,00,00,00

    Save as Control.reg, doubleclick, and anwer 'yes' to have it merged into the registry.

    This will disable Control Panel.
    At least until someone discovers how to undo this... :D

    Grtz.
