    Hello all,

I've just assembled a pc from spare parts and i'm facing some problems.
I post here the components list:

AMD Athlon 3400+ (2.2 GHz core speed)
    Fujitsu-Siemens D2030-A2 motherboard chipset SiS
2 GB Ram DDR (157.1 MHz Dram Frequency)
Ati Radeon Hd 5450 Graphic card
    Hd Maxtor 6V160E0

I'm using win xp sp 3.

    Ok, now about the issues:
    1) High CPU usage on idle
I've tried everything, system is clean and no background applications running.
Stopped all unnecessary services (autoupdate etc).
    Temp files cleaned.
OS is brand new installed after full disk reformat ofc.
On idle the cpu usage is still 65-75%, task manager doesn't show processes eating resources.

    2) System cannot find the OS during the first boot
BIOS is showing me the message of missing os, only at the very first startup.
If i reboot the system, all is working fine.

Maybe those 2 issues are connected in some way.
I've tried to diagnose the HD using the maxtor tool, and all looks ok.
Changed sata cable just to be sure and nothing changed.

Could anyone help me to fix those problems ?
I'm here and ready to answer all questions :)
    Thanks in advance.

    P.

Yes, gfx is a bit Totò much, but the pc has been assembled from spare parts. Indeed it's the more recent device.
It has avast antivirus but it has been disabled during tests.
    Motherboard is a Fujitsu-Siemens.
    PSU is a 450 w one.

Any idea what Diode 2 is reporting? Its pretty high. Does the motherboard have a fan on the chipset? Is it working?

In Task Manager make sure to check the box that shows processes from all users.

Indeed the chipset is pretty hot.
It has no fan on it, only a simple heat sink.

Do you suggest better cooling ?

    It may help.

Do you know if the CPU is compatible with the motherboard/BIOS?

    It should be.
I took it away from an old system. No issue reported on it.
