Currently using internet explorer 8.0.6001 and im finding that the usage in my task manager for iexplore.exe is rising up as high as 60% when loading a new webpage. This is much higher than it's ever been. My computer lags and freezes right up at times. It's the worst when I'm on youtube. I can watch a few videos, but by the 4th or 5th one, my computer freezes right up and I get the blue screen of death. Something about watchdog.sys is mentioned in the blue screen, not sure if thats of any relevance. Anyways, any help on how to resolve this would be appreciated.

(So far I've tried doing the "disable all ad-ons" within IE and that didn't help any.)

Can you post a few of your latest minidump files? They are located in C:\WINDOWS\Minidump. ZIP them and attach them to your next post.

Right-click the minidump file, select Send To, then select Compressed (zipped) Folder.

Windows will compress (zip) the file and save the new zipped file in the same location.

If the Minidump folder is empty, you'll need to configure Windows to create minidump files:

Next,

1- Please click HERE to download HijackThis.
2- Run the program.
3- Click on the Main Menu button if not already there.
4- Select Do a system scan and save a logfile.
5- Copy and paste the scan log from Notepad into your next reply.
6- Do not "Fix" anything unless advised to do so.

Besides the HiJackThis log that Phantom010 requested, can you provide us with the specs of that computer?

Your minidump files are pretty consistent with nv4_disp.dll, related to your NVIDIA display adapter driver, as the probable cause.

Try updating that driver.

The driver of my video card is the cause of the problem? I'm pretty sure I have the most up to date. I'll give it a shot though.

If you do have the latest driver, try uninstalling and reinstalling it. If no improvement, try reverting to a previous version.

Okay, well there does seem to be a newer version. I'll update to that, and I'll get back to this thread if I notice any further odd behaviour. It might take me a day or two to notice anything during my normal routine on my PC. I've also heard some clunking noises with my HD upon startup. I'm thinking maybe it might be the cause as well. Even something as simple as clicking the the open tray button on my disc drives seems to be a chore for my PC as of late. I have to hit it a few times for it to finally open it. That has never happened before, and it's on both, not just one. Little bizzare.

I believe the most current NVIDIA driver version for Windows XP is 285.58.

After you update the NVIDIA driver and restart the computer, do the following:

Go to Start - Run - MSCONFIG - OK - "Startup" tab.

Remove the checkmark in all entries in the "Startup Item" column that begin with Nv or nv.

Click Apply - OK - Exit Without Restart.

Go to Start - Run - SERVICES.MSC - OK.

Double-click on all entries that begin with NVIDIA.

Change the "Startup Type" to Manual, then click Apply - OK.

Restart the computer.

When the small System Configuration Utility window appears, ignore its message.

Put a checkmark in the lower left of that window, then click OK to close it.

Submit a new HiJackThis scan log here.

Start HiJackThis, but don't run a scan.

Click on the "Open The Misc Tools Section" button.

Click on the "Open Uninstall Manager" button.

Click on the "Save List" button.

Save the "uninstall_list.txt" file somewhere.

It'll then open in Notepad.

Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the entire file here.

Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin needs to be updated to Adobe Flash Player Plugin 11.0.1.152

Adobe Reader 9.1 needs to be updated to Adobe Reader 10.1.1

Java(TM) 6 Update 27 needs to be updated to Java Runtime Environment 6 Update 29

Mozilla Firefox 3.0.19 needs to be updated to Mozilla Firefox 7.0.1
If you no longer use it, uninstall it instead.

VLC Media Player 0.9.9 needs to be updated to VLC Media Player 1.1.11
If you no longer use it, uninstall it instead.

The new versions will overwrite and replace the old versions, so there's no need to uninstall them first.

After you're all done, restart the computer.

-------------------------------------------------------

Click Start - Run, then type in

%temp%

and then click OK.

Click Start - Run, then type in

c:\windows\temp

and then click OK.

Once those 2 temp folders appear and you can view their contents, select and delete EVERYTHING that's inside them.

If a few files resist being deleted, that's normal behavior. Leave them alone and delete EVERYTHING else.

After you're done, restart the computer.

-------------------------------------------------------

Start HiJackThis, then click "Do a system scan and save a log file".

Save the new log that appears, then submit it here.

I also noticed, that there is 3 AVGS. Uninstall AVG, and install MSE.
